Bobby Dean Squires

Bobby Dean Squires, 87 of Springdale, Arkansas, received his reward on April 10, 2025. Bobby was born in Seminole, OK, on March 20, 1938, to Captola and Sherman Squires. Captola married Bobby’s daddy, Robert Mauk, in 1940. Bobby grew up very close to his grandparents, Rollie and Bessie Johndrow, on a farm just outside of Seminole, OK, where his love for farming began. Bobby attended school in Seminole and went on to be a Seminole Chieftain, where he played football and was president of the FFA. Bobby and both of his sons, Keith and Robert, earned 1st place in National Poultry Judging competitions for the FFA in high school and at their colleges: OSU and the University of Arkansas. Bobby and Kay married on November 30th, 1957, and moved to OSU in Stillwater where Bobby (with Kay’s help) pursued a degree in Poultry Science with a business minor. Bobby went to school and worked for 45 cents an hour–and could work as many hours as he wanted. After graduating from OSU, Bobby moved his family to Springdale and began working for Georges. Bobby worked for Georges for 40 years, first as a service man and then later as the manager of the Commercial Egg Department. Bobby served on the American Egg Board, the Executive Board; as vice president, secretary, treasurer, and he was President of the Arkansas Egg Council. For fun, on his time off, he raised cattle and pigs, showed fox trotters, and always had a garden. With the help of his family (mostly Kay), he raised pullets and hens–and had a broiler farm in Missouri. He did always find time to follow his sons’ and grandsons' sporting events faithfully, spent time bowling on a league at the Springdale Bowl, loved golfing at the Springdale Country Club, and he played a mean game of Pinochle with friends and neighbors. Bobby also loved the lake, fishing, camping, and just spending time with his family. Bobby leaves his family knowing the value of hard work, loyalty, and how to love. Bobby is preceded in death by his grandparents, Rollie and Bessie Johndrow; his father and mother, Robert and Captola Mauk; and his uncle and aunt, Jack and Gala King, who were like siblings to him. Bobby is survived by his wife, Myra Kay Squires; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Roger Voss; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Regina Squires; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sherry Squires; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Rebecca Voss and her children, McKane, Karli, and Raylea; Rachel and Nick Emerson and their children, Carter, Cannon, Claira Kay, and Corali; Colton Squires, Felicia, Gregory, Stephanie and their children, Damion and Lillianna; Peyton and Kaylee Squires; Cassidy and Grant Lancelot and their daughter, Nora; Jessica and Wes Aldrine; Alley and Bryce Batson; Justin and LaShae Looney and their children, Airedale and Jaksen; and Brittany and Ryan Brawley and their children, Presley and Braxton. Services will be held Monday, April 14th, 2025, at Robinson Avenue Church of Christ. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM, with a funeral following at 11:00 AM. A graveside interment will follow the service at Friendship Cemetery.
