Christine Hairston Fitzgerald Springdale-Lifelong resident of the Oak Grove Community, Christine Fitzgerald, was called to leave her earthly home, to enter her glorious heavenly home on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, where she no doubt was greeted by a host of her family and friends who had gone on before her. Bonnie Christine (Hairston) Fitzgerald was born September 28, 1928 in Springdale to Daria and Minnie Hairston. She attended Oak Grove School, graduating from Springdale High School in 1946. She had many dear friends in her class and enjoyed going to the class reunions and keeping up with all her former classmates. In 1948, she married her childhood sweetheart, E. H. (Jack) Fitzgerald. She worked outside the home for a few years, but found her true calling was to be a devoted wife and mother. She and Jack raised their three children in the Oak Grove community. She was a charter member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday School teacher, VBS volunteer, and many other roles. She also was a 50+ year member of the Oak Grove Extension Homemakers. Christine loved to entertain her family and friends in her home. She, along with Jack, were very active grandparents, and could be seen out enjoying concerts, plays, ballgames, and many other activities with their family. Christine was a woman of great faith and love for her Savior. She was always positive and caring, regardless of her circumstances. She suffered a massive stroke 6 years ago, leaving her without the ability to speak. This did not hinder her walk with Christ, and she continued to be an inspiration and example to all who knew and met her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 61 years, Jack; her son, Doug; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Ethel and Johnny Gobble, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Eva Dean and Leonard Terry. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and John McWilliams, and granddaughter, Bethany, of Shawnee, Ok. ; her son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Cindy Fitzgerald of Springdale; daughter-in-law, Yolanda Gage; her brother and sister-in-law, Gale and Jessie Hairston; Grandsons Jason, and wife Christian Fitzgerald and great grandson, Maddox; John, and wife Ashley Fitzgerald, and great granddaughter, Kylee; Robert Fitzgerald and fiancé Alexandra Morrison all of Springdale. Grandson Ryan Fitzgerald and fiancé, Amanda Pearson, of Tulsa, Ok.; Granddaughter Angela (McWilliams) Goodson, and husband, Jacob, and great granddaughters, Sophia, and Seraphina of Williamsburg, Va.; Grandson Stephen McWilliams, and wife, Crystal, and great grandson, Daniel, and great granddaughter, Susanna, of Shawnee, Ok.; one niece, Susan Storment, and husband, John, 4 nephews, Dennis and wife, Lori Hairston of Oklahoma City; Bill and wife, Kathy Hairston of Fayetteville, AR; Jeff and wife, Samantha Hairston of Midwest City, Ok; Ben Storment and fiancé Randa of Springdale, and several great nephews and nieces. She is also survived by a host of friends, and loved ones, including her loving caregiver for the last 6 years, Silvia Trejo. Visitation will be Sunday, February 17, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be Monday, February 18 at 10:00 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Guy Durkee and Louis Dewett officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Springs Cemetery.
