Dennis Ray Conner

Dennis Ray Conner, 75 of Springdale, Arkansas passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022 at his home. He was born November 16, 1946 in Benton, Illinois to Wayne Fred Conner and Betty Laverene Fisher Conner. Dennis was the first of four children and grew up in the southern Illinois area. He graduated from West Frankfort High School in 1964 and married the love of his life, Donna Gay on September 5, 1965. Over the next thirteen years, they added two daughters and two sons to their family. He was always a hard worker and worked various jobs including a meat packing plant, washer/dryer manufacturing and Yadro’s muffler shop before he decided he needed a new career path. He then worked diligently to become a self-taught carpenter, electrician, plumber, painter by going to home construction sites, after everyone was gone in the evenings, so he could study various projects learning how to become a builder. He accepted his first construction job, to build a garage for a customer, before he even knew what he was doing but was able to complete the garage successfully. He was a perfectionist when it came to his construction projects and always treated his customers right! Anything he wanted to do, he would figure out a way to learn how to do it and get it done! In August 1977, Dennis moved his family from southern Illinois to Springdale Arkansas to continue his self-employed career as a carpenter. He was the founder of DC Homes and was able to hire and educate/train both of his sons in the home construction and remodeling trade and hired his son-in-law and other young people through the years. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren more than words could express. He loved family gatherings, playing games, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and always enjoyed family vacations. He also really enjoyed the occasional trip to various casinos where he mastered his favorite slot machines. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was playful and quick witted. His smile and his laughter were infectious, and people always liked being around him. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna Conner of the home; two daughters, Dena Jansen and husband Mike of Springdale, Regina Womack and husband Jeff of Miami, Oklahoma; two sons, Kevin Conner and wife Kim of Osage City, Kansas and Derick Conner and wife Amy of Springdale; Grandchildren, Samantha Shrimplin and husband Ryan, Jacob Attkisson and wife Sarah, Derek Conner and wife Kearsti, Preston Conner, Brandon Jansen and wife Meghan, Briana Kauffman and husband Daniel, Lindsay Sokamnouay and husband Devin, Keely Hayes and husband Trevor, Maisie Brawner and husband Andy, Conner Womack, Nelson Conner, Kaedon Dillon, Brayden Conner, Gavin Conner, and Mason Conner; 11 great grandchildren. Two sisters, Patty Hood of West Frankfort, Illinois, Darla Smothers & husband Joe of Carlyle, Illinois. One brother Chuck Conner & wife Cindy of Benton, Illinois. Several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be Monday, October 17, 2022 at 12 pm at Sisco Funeral Chapel with Pastor Leon Weece officiating. Burial will follow in Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11am Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers for the service will be Jacob Attkisson, Derek Conner , Preston Conner , Brandon Jansen , Conner Womack, Nelson Conner, Brayden Conner, Gavin Conner. Honorary pallbearers will be Kaedon Dillon and Mason Conner.
