Eddie Perry

Eddie Perry, age 79, of Springdale, Arkansas, departed this life on August 13, 2026, at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born March 23, 1947, in Fayetteville to William Dale Perry and Joyce Marie Barncord Perry. Ed was raised in Baxter Springs, Kansas, where he attended high school. He later entered active duty with the United States Navy and served his country during the Vietnam War. His military service included duty aboard the USS Benewah (APB-35), and his family remembers that he also served in joint duty with the United States Marine Corps while in Vietnam. Ed was honorably released from active duty on November 21, 1968. Among the decorations he received for his service were the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. After his military service, Ed made his home in Springdale. He spent much of his working life in the trucking industry, a profession that became one of his lifelong passions. He also worked for Tyson Foods, where he proudly supported “Uncle Don,” as he affectionately referred to Mr. Tyson. Simply put, Ed lived life the cowboy way. Hard work, integrity, grit, loyalty, and a love for animals were foundations of both his character and the life he chose to live. Whether he was working cattle, tending to horses, or simply spending time with his cow dog, Blue, Ed was happiest surrounded by the things that reflected that way of life. Ed also had a heart for people. He poured his time and energy into the lives of friends, especially those who needed encouragement or another opportunity. His message to them—and perhaps one of the best ways they can honor his memory—would be: “Now do something with your second chance.” Ed was preceded in death by his father, William Dale Perry; his mother, Joyce Marie Barncord Perry; and his sister, Gale Marie Perry. He is survived by his three sons and their respective families, as well as many friends whose lives were touched by his friendship, encouragement, generosity, and unmistakable cowboy spirit. Ed will be remembered as a man who worked hard, loved deeply, stood by the people he cared about, and lived according to the values that mattered to him. His passions were simple and genuine—cattle, horses, the trucking industry, fishing, animals, and the people fortunate enough to be called his friends and family. So please don’t cry. This cowboy has simply taken his last ride on this side of Glory. He is likely somewhere near a good fishing “honey hole,” with Blue by his side, reunited with the loved ones who got there first and waiting for the day when those he loved and left behind will join him again.
