Marty Flint

Marty Flint (Winifred LaVonne Watters), 91, of Jasper, AR, passed away on September 1, 2023. Marty was born on June 14, 1932, in Modesto, CA, to the late John Leo Watters and Ruby Opal Watters. She was predeceased by her father, mother, brother Jack Leon Watters, daughter Lynda Jean Watters, son Timothy Michael Flint, and former husband Dr. Robert Thomas Flint. Marty's irreverent sense of humor and spontaneous spirit endeared her to all who knew her. She cherished her role as the matriarch of her family and found joy in spending time with her enormous clan. Marty's passport was always up to date, a symbol of her love for travel and exploration. She was a voracious reader and found solace in the pages of books. When she wasn't immersed in a novel, she could be found knitting and crocheting, creating beautiful pieces with her skilled hands. She was always quick to offer visitors a hot cuppa English tea. Marty had a fulfilling career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, specializing in Cardiac Care Units and Intensive Care Units. She provided comfort and support to patients during their most vulnerable moments. Marty's compassion and expertise touched the lives of many patients during her time in the healthcare industry. A Memorial/Celebration of Life service to honor Marty's memory will be held in October. Details regarding the service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions be made to the Newton County Library and/or Meals on Wheels. Marty had a deep appreciation for knowledge and community support, and these organizations were close to her heart. Marty will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her surviving family members: her daughters Jerri Todd (Russ) of Jasper, AR; Katie Deakins (Ronnie) of Harrison, AR; Deri Shaub of Jasper, AR; son Sean Flint (Darla Carey) of Concord, CA; granddaughter Angel Villines of Jasper, AR; granddaughter Amanda Villines (Fred Lydick) of Edmond, OK; grandson Levi Morrison of Great Falls, MT; grandson J.C. Villines (Lyndsey) of Ft. Smith, AR; granddaughter Serena Cummings of Fayetteville, AR; granddaughter Stephanie Jones (Dustin) of Mtn. Home, AR; granddaughter Megan Bernhardt (Jeremiah Person) of Fayetteville, AR; granddaughter Brianna Shaub of Russellville, AR; granddaughter Kelsey Wiersema (Joshua) of West, TX; grandson Kyle Deakins of Bella Vista, AR; granddaughter Anna Grace Deakins (Ethan Hawbaker) of Bentonville, AR; and grandson Dakota Todd of Springfield, MO. In addition, she is survived by Julius Watters, nephew; Christine Holtzer, niece; 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and many others who called her Mom or Gram. Marty's legacy will live on through the memories and love shared by her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend.
