Sherlene Ann Meyers

Sherlene Anne Meyers entered into the kingdom of heaven on Friday, October 27th, 2023. She was born on July 1st, 1933, to Eugene "Nick" and Velma Meyers in Yankton, South Dakota. Everyone referred to her as "Grandma Sherlene." She was one of three children. Sherlene married Billy Earl Van Hoozen and together they had five children. Linda, Randy, David, Sherry and Eugene (Geno) Sherlene worked hard her entire life. She raised all 5 children mostly on her own. She worked as a surgery tech, in Hemet California, from 1971 until September of 1989. She was a firm believer that hard work would pay off and family always came first. With such a beautiful heart, Sherlene always donated to the ASPCA and St. Judes, as her love for animals and children has always shown through her beautiful soul and love of life. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, cleaning and video lottery machines. She also loved thrift shopping at Goodwill and other local second hand stores. Always buying items and being ready to hand them out to a multitude of different people in her life. That was who she was. She had a heart of pure gold. Crafted in generosity, love and a forever shining light. She was always willing to give and expected nothing in return. Last but not least, her greatest love- Piper "Buddy" Van Hoozen. Her beloved dog of the last 5 years. Everyone that knew Sherlene, knows just how much this little dog meant to her. Adopting him at the age of 6 weeks, they spent all of their time together. Growing and loving one another, its clear to see that this bond was inseparable. She was preceded in death by her husband Billy, her parents(Nick and Velma), her brothers(Dean and Jack Meyers), son(Randy VanHoozen), daughter(Sherry Scofield), granddaughter(Jacqueline Gallemore) and daughter-in-law(Elizabeth(Lynn) VanHoozen). She is survived by daughter(Linda Chambers) and son(David VanHoozen) both of Huntsville, AR and son(Geno VanHoozen/Nelda) of Hemet, CA, daughter-in-law(Sandi VanHoozen) of Elkins, AR, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. No services are planned.
