Susie Watson

Susie A. Watson of Ft. Collins, Colorado entered into rest on May 3, 2009 at Columbine West Nursing and Rehab Center in Ft. Collins, Colorado. She lived in Springdale, Arkansas before moving to Ft. Collins in 1983. She was born November 30, 1913 into the home of Robert and Dessie Edgman of Swain, Arkansas. She was a charter member of the Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Springdale. She attended First Baptist Church in Ft. Collins. Susie worked for 14 years for the Salvation Army as cook, clerk in the Thrift Store and was in charge of The Giving Tree for many years in the Foothills Mall. Always an advocate for the poor, she offered assistance whenever she saw a need: a bowl of soup or payment for medical treatment or word of comfort. She owned a neighborhood grocery store for fourteen years and gave credit to those who could benefit from such support. She loved children and young people and sent many to youth camp. Susie loved gardening and doing crafts. She lived almost 25 years at Oakbrook 2 in Ft. Collins. A place she absolutely loved. She made many friends whom she cherished to the end of her life. Her last months were spent at Columbine West Nursing Center where she received the best of care and enjoyed meaningful friendships. Pathways Hospice and the Staff at Columbine West provided love and support until the end of her life. Her deep faith in God kept her strong in every circumstance. She loved life so much and lived it to the fullest. She is survived by daughters Nadine and Erma, Granddaughter, Susan and great grandson Stephen all of Ft. Collins, Colorado. Two sisters survive, Bertha Watson of Springdale and Rosa Clark of Stark City, Missouri and many nieces and nephews. Susie was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Logan Watson, two sons Berlin and Glen Howell, sisters Melva Self and Orva Self and her parents Robert and Dessie Edgman. Susie loved her immediate family, extended family and the many friends she made across the years. She will be missed but never forgotten. Funeral services will be Friday, May 8, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Sisco Funeal Chapel in Springdale with Rev. David Watson officiating. Burial in the Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Pathways Hospice, 305 Carpenter Rd., Fort Collins, CO 80525, The Mission, 460 Linden Center Drive, Ft.
