Nancy Cochran Shaw

August 17, 1942 - February 13, 2022

Nancy Cochran Shaw passed on February 13, 2022 in Springdale, AR. She was born August 17, 1942 in Russellville, AR to Justin Kenton Cochran and Geraldine Jones Cochran. She is survived by her husband, Jan Shaw of Russellville, her daughter Deanah Teeter Baker and husband Tim of Springdale, AR, three grandchildren, Justin Baker and wife Maddy of Augusta, GA, Rachel Baker of Fayetteville, AR and Evan Baker of Springdale, AR. She is also survived by an aunt, Katherine Jones of Russellville, cousins Bettye Jenkins of Russellville, and Sam (Brenda) Jones, Brooks (Judy) Morton and Vicki (Gary) Barnett of Dardanelle, Debbie (Rodney) Malone of Charleston, SC, Jeral (Sandra) Jones of Madison, AL as well as beloved extended family and friends. The memorial service will be held Friday, 2/18/22, 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Russellville, AR. The Reverend Dr. Tony Griffin will officiate. Nancy was a giving individual who devoted her time and talents to many generations through her love of teaching, her vocal skill and her incredible cooking and entertaining abilities. Nancy attended Arkansas Tech University and the University of Arkansas, where she became a member of Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity. She received her B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Central Arkansas and her Master of Education from Arkansas Tech. She taught 2nd and 3rd grades during her 30-year career at Sequoyah Elementary which yielded some fantastic stories and experiences. She engaged her students with songs that they remembered long after their grade-school days. She was a vocalist and used that talent in pageants during college. She sang many solos for Sunday church congregations, weddings and funerals. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir and even playing a role in a local production of Auntie Mame. Nancy was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Russellville. She was also a member of the Russellville P.E.O. and talked fondly of the friendships built. Once in retirement, Nancy took on the role of cooking as a way to serve others. She loved to entertain for various events in the home, such as supporting the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. She took such effort in making it special for those who attended. Nancy was a gracious, creative and quick-witted woman with moxie. She shared her traits with those she raised, taught and influenced throughout her life. We are grateful for her love and friendship. Online condolences may be left at www.siscofuneral.com
