Robert Henry Ziegler Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Robert Henry Ziegler, Sr., 94 of Springdale passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. Robert was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on January 2,1928, to Henry Thomas and Mary Lucile Brown Ziegler. He attended public schools in Little Rock and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1946. He attended the University of Arkansas where he was a member of the SAE Fraternity. He graduated in 1950 and in January 1951, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant and was a Radar Observer in All Weather Jet Interceptors. His squadron served in northern Greenland and was the first fighter squadron to be permanently stationed above the Arctic Circle. He was released from active duty in July 1955. He returned to the University of Arkansas, earning a degree in Accounting in 1957. He and Mildred Walton Ziegler were married in December 1955. He was employed by the US Treasury Department and retired in 1993. Robert was a lifelong Methodist, first as a member of First Methodist Church Little Rock and later as a member of FUMC Springdale. He worked with The Boy Scouts of America Troop 107, sponsored by The First Methodist Church, for 14 years. He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his older brother Tom. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mildred Walton Ziegler of Springdale, AR. His three sons: Robert Jr. of Eden, UT, Aubrey (Leslie) of Fort Smith, AR, and Thomas (Jordan) of Springdale, AR. Additionally he leaves behind his eight grandchildren: Robert III, Allison, Laura, and Stephen Ziegler of Eden, UT; Luke and Ginny Ziegler of Fort Smith, AR and Gray and Drew Ziegler of Springdale, AR. As well as his younger brother George Ziegler of San Luis Obisipo, CA.
