Fleeta Mae Gentry

Fleeta Mae Gentry, 97 of Springdale passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at her home. She was born April 29, 1928 in Baldwin, Arkansas the daughter of Albert W. Brown, Sr. and Letha Opal Mckinney Brown. She graduated from University High School in 1945, where she was elected Class President. She attended the University of Arkansas. Fleeta was an active member of the community where she was involved in the Baldwin Home Demonstration Club and the United Church Women United of Springdale, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, fishing and baking. She worked for the Northwest Migrant Ministry Association Daycare, which became Washington County Headstart. She also worked for J.C. Payne Trucking, Springdale Farm Producer, Lewallen Transportation and Feed My Sheep Bible Book Store. She attended Baldwin Christian Church, Springdale First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ where she sang in the choir, she also was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Springdale; where she attended the Builders Class. She also volunteered for the C.W.F and Women’s Group Offices. Fleeta enjoyed volunteering at the Springdale Senior Center where she helped deliver for meals on wheels. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cleon Gentry and her brother, Albert W Brown, Jr., and her sisters, Juanita Van Hoose and Loraine Stacy, her brother in law, Don Barth and her son in law, Charles Batson. Survivors include one son, Donald J. Gentry and wife Linda of Lenexa Kansas; one daughter, Gayle Batson of Little Rock; one sister, Peggy Barth of Fayetteville, five grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday, May 19, 2025 at 10 am at First United Methodist Church in Springdale with Rev Daniel Thueson and Rev Judy Van Hoose officiating. Burial will follow in Hester Cemetery in Fayetteville. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 2-4pm at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.
