Jimmy Blakemore

Jimmy Eldon Blakemore 76 of Springdale went Home to his Savior Jesus Christ October 30, 2011 from his home. He was born October 18, 1935 near Fayetteville, AR the son of Eldon and Beulah Prichard Blakemore. He retired from the United States Navy in September 1975 after a 20 year career with rank of Master Chief Construction man with the Seabees. During this time he spent several tours of duty overseas and with his family served in five states as a Navy Recruiter. His family accompanied him on a 2 years tour in Greece, also during this time he spent 13 months in Vietnam from July 1969 to August 1970. NTI till 1997. He was an active member of Berry Street Baptist Church where he served with the bus ministry and taught 3rd and 4th grade Sunday school as long as his health allowed him to. He continued to serve his lord and worshiped him as long as he lived. Jim was a gentleman in every since of the word. He always had a twinkle in his eyes and a love for his family that was out of this world. He was Da to his grandsons and they loved him dearly. He spent 20 years at NTI in several areas, mostly as a counselor in areas aiding others. He was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Blakemore, two brothers, Billy Hugh and Jack Blakemore and two sisters, Jessie Wright and Reda Manning. He leaves behind the love of his life and best friend, Jody Blakemore whom he was married to for 53 years. One son, Jerry Blakemore and wife Cindy of Pensacola, FL, and daughter, Tammy Bertschy of Springdale, two grandsons, Wesley Blakemore and Robbie Bertschy both of Springdale. Brother, Roy Blakemore and wife Linda of Hindsville, three sisters, Barbara Dunham of Bella Vista , Katie Collins and husband Jim and Rena Scyenski all of Springdale. Jim is at peace with his Lord. We miss you so much Da. Good night I Love You Da. I mean it and I will see you in the morning. Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Berry Street Baptist Church with Bro. Chris Cooper, Bro. Don Seigler and Bro. John Smedley officiating. Private burial was in Zion Cemetery.
