Robert Baskin

Robert Joseph (Bob) Baskin 83 of Fayetteville passed away at his home January 21, 2012 after a short illness. He was born May 5, 1928 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to WL and Emma Jo (Josie) Carmack Baskin. He was a WWII Navy Veteran serving from March 4, 1946 till October 29, 1947. He was on the original Management Team of Tysons Foods. He retired from Tyson's Hatcheries in February 1983. He continued to be a consultant with Tysons. Bob was founder and co owner of Pats Antiques. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Springdale and he attended First Baptist Church of Springdale and Elmdale Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School. He was a championship fisherman and enjoyed his Friday luncheons and fishing with his three best friends Jack Brashears, Poke Knight and Bromo Wilson for the last 50 years. He was a loving husband and father. He was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia Ann "Pat" Baskin, son Douglas Baskin and grandson Scott Baskin. He is survived by his wife Ute Wilson Baskin of the home; son Steve Baskin and wife Brenda of Fayetteville; step daughter, Sarah Ward and husband Mike of Fayetteville; two brothers, Gene Baskin and wife Stephanie of Johnson and Duane Baskin and wife Louetta of Springdale, sisters; Mildred Stepp and husband Ollen and Juanita Clark both of Springdale. Four grandchildren and five great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews and special friends Helen Dokter and Norma Elizondo. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with Pastor Mark Krause officiating and Gregg Baskin with the message on behalf of the family. Burial will be in Elm Springs Cemetery. Visitation will Wednesday 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Pallbearers are: Jason Baskin, Duane Baskin, Jimmy Baskin, Dean Stepp, Sean Harp and Michael Ward. Honorary pallbearers are: Kirksey Harris, Poke Knight and Napoleon "Nap" Orr. Memorials may be made in memory of Scott Baskin to Children's Hospital 800 Marshall Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72202
