Ronald "Ron" Knapp

Ron was born in Sidney, New York to Harry William Knapp and Geraldine Estella Day. He is survived by his “ex-wife” Peggy Knapp and they were married for 54 years. They raised three children. Jennie Gronniger and husband Richard of Valley Center, KS, Ronald James Knapp and his wife Bernice of Pierce City, MO, Debbie Knapp of Springdale, AR. Three grandchildren: April, Brandi and Richard and 4 grandchildren: Jennies children. One grandson by Debbie, James Beatty of Fayetteville, AR. He also has a sister Dorothy Valdez and husband Carlos of Phoenix, AZ. Ron began learning upholstery from a neighbor when he was a sophomore in high school. He loved to do auto upholstery. He worked on cars for movie sets. One of the cars he did was in the television show “THE MAN FROM UNCLE”. He dropped out of school and married Peggy about the same time. They were married and we all hung out together until they moved to Page, AZ. He worked on the Glen Canyon Dam. He worked in Kansas for several years on upholstery and got into doing show cars. He had a truck he upholstered and he went to several shows and won trophies. He moved to Shell Knob, MO and went to work for five years at the Campbell Boat Dock. He did complete interiors on the boats there. He loved doing that kind of work. He had a passion for it. Ron and his wife Peggy trained on driving the big Semi trucks. After they were trained, they drove as a team together until my brother had a heart attack. That was the end of their driving. They retired from IWX. Ron and Peggy were divorced due to pressures around them. Three days after their divorce was finalized they made the decision to come back to Phoenix, AZ. and get remarried. Peggy was concerned about his health, and made the decision that he had to see the Doctor before they started on the road to AZ. Ron was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. His decision was not to endure the results of the medication. I made the decision to visit my brother one last time. I am so grateful that God gave me the time I had with him before he went on. I do have the regret that I was unable to give him his last wish to be brought to AZ. and laid to rest with his wife. Rest in peace my brother and we will see you again.
