Vickie Sue Traxler

Vickie Sue Traxler, 68, departed this earth peacefully on Monday, October 2, 2023. She was born March 11, 1955 to Billie Joe (Walker) and Murry Johnson in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 sister, Sharon and 2 brothers, Scott and Terry Johnson. In 1977 Vickie married Varlen Traxler and fully embraced motherhood adopting his 6 year old daughter, Noël. She became PTO President, Brownie leader, substitute teacher, cake decorator, costume maker, seamstress because she always said, “If you’re gonna do it, do it right, or don’t do it at all.” Vickie was a natural nurturer and had a gift for turning ordinary family gatherings into extraordinary occasions. She filled her home with family; friends, friends of friends; food, food, and more food; Dolly, Hank, Steve Earle and Willie. In 1973, Vickie graduated from Fayetteville High School and soon after went to work for Charles E. Davis in Springdale. She quickly mastered the skill of being a legal secretary back in the day when typewriters and copy paper made that a rather difficult chore. Along the way, she met a young law clerk by the name of W.H. Taylor and they immediately formed a fast friendship that lasted until her death. When W.H. left and became licensed to practice law, W.H. managed to lured her away from the family business of TRAX TRUX when he opened his own private practice in Springdale. Thereafter, they moved to Fayetteville and Vickie worked for W.H. for a number of years. Subsequently, her baby brother, daughter and granddaughter, Olivia, have worked in the law office to the great joy of both Vickie and W.H. She leaves behind a daughter, Noël Mowrey; Granddaughters, Olivia and Ava Kemberly Mowrey; sister, Tricia Murray; Niece, Crystal Murray; great niece and nephew Cailee Murray and Hunter Bobo-Brooks; Brother Richard “Buddy” Johnson (Susan McCord); 2 Nieces, Elizabeth Johnson and Shannon Hoffman; 1 nephew, Colton Johnson and several more nieces and nephews. If there is a honky tonk in heaven, Vickie pulled up in either her blue Dodge Challenger, yellow Scout or Cadillac Seville and is holding court surrounded by her loved ones that beat her to the party. Our gratitude to the entire staff at Edgewood Health & Rehab especially her nurse, Jean, whose kindness and compassion far exceeded her job description. Thank you to Marie driving her to countless appointments. Service to be held Tuesday, October 10th at 2PM at Sisco Chapel in Springdale. Cremation arrangements by Sisco Funeral Chapel.
